Manufacturer: Cipla, India
Pharmaceutical name: Levosalbutamol, Ipratropium
Pack: 1 inhaler (70 mcg/200 doses)
The Duolin Inhaler consists of a combination of two bronchodilator agents: Levosalbutamol and Ipratropium Bromide. These medications function by relaxing the muscles surrounding the airways, facilitating easier airflow into the lungs. It serves as a long-term preventive treatment for symptoms such as wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, and coughing in individuals with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), chronic bronchitis, and emphysema. Additionally, it may be utilized by some to manage asthma.
Levosalbutamol works by relaxing the muscles in the airway walls, thereby opening them up and improving breathing. Ipratropium is classified as an anticholinergic or parasympatholytic agent. It aids in widening the air passages to the lungs, making breathing easier and providing relief from asthma and related conditions.
Ipratropium Bromide and Levosalbutamol combine to form a bronchodilator that helps relax the muscles in the airways, thereby improving lung circulation. It is recommended as an inhaled treatment for the prevention or management of bronchospasm, which is also a characteristic of asthma, in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Before using, shake the metered Duolin Inhaler aerosol to ensure the medication is well mixed, delivering the correct dose. Each puff should be inhaled properly through the mouth for Ipratropium and Salbutamol to be effective. The suggested dosage for adults is 2 puffs four times a day (at evenly spaced intervals), with a maximum of 12 puffs within a 24-hour period.
Potential side effects of the Duolin Inhaler include dry mouth, headache, and cough. Seek emergency medical assistance if you experience any signs of an allergic reaction, such as hives, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat.
